The bylaw includes rules requiring landscaping in the front yards of small residential buildings to be a certain percentage of “soft landscaping” of which artificial grass is not included and therefore, not permitted. As released on CBC.ca, one Toronto homeowner received a fine due to her artificial grass front-yard, only a year after being congratulated by the city on her beautiful artificial grass installation.
Another individual, a former city councilor, was asked to remove her fake grass front yard by the City of Toronto. She never did, and the city never followed up. hese instances are not limited to Toronto and similar events have occurred in Quebec City.
